NEHS HIGHLANDER STUDENT NEWS

IB Exam Registration is Underway!
Attention parents/guardians of 11th and 12th graders: IB exam registration is beginning for the 2025-26 school year. If your student is currently enrolled in an IB course, they should have received information about registering for IB exams this year. Students can earn between 4-12 college credits per course if they achieve a passing score on their internal and external IB exams! Exam registration costs $109 each, but families who qualify for financial aid from the state may be able to waive the testing fee entirely (please see the list on the registration form for all programs that qualify for this). Registration forms are due with payment by November 7, 2025. Ask your student for the blue registration form they should have received in their IB classes this past week, or see below for a PDF of the form. Any questions, please reach out to Kendall Lawless at lawless_k@4j.lane.edu.

Find the registration forms attached to the bottom of this newsletter.

FOCUS Homework Club Begins in October

Attention parents! Is your student struggling to complete assignments at home? Would you like more support for your student academically? If you answered yes to either of these questions, consider recommending your student for the FOCUS homework club.

About FOCUS homework club:

The goal of FOCUS homework club is to support students after school by providing tutoring, positive encouragement, and a designated space to complete assignments in a supervised setting. FOCUS homework is supervised by a licensed teacher, an educational assistant, and peer tutors.

Ninth grade students are invited to attend FOCUS to complete missing assignments or improve their grades. FOCUS homework club meets Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 3:45-4:45 pm after school in room 201 (Highlander Academic Center).

LTD Bus Pass renewal - October 15
Heads up! LTD passes may stop working after October 15th if they didn't get renewed properly behind the scenes (you don't need to do anything each year to renew your pass). If your pass doesn't work next time you ride the bus, go to the front office to get it renewed.

Marisha Chamberlain's play adaptation of "Little Women" retells Louisa May Alcott's classic story of the four March sisters – Meg, Jo, Beth, and Amy – as they come of age in Civil War-era New England. Meg yearns for a family, Jo for a writing career, Beth for domesticity and music, and Amy for artistry and status.
